SmokeFire EX6
So I’m going to ask the experts here, as I was very hesitant to purchase a pellet.....but pulled the trigger today anyways and bought an EX6. I already have fears, is this the right place to ask questions?

Billy, you can ask anything you wish. Somebody here has probably dealt with similar issues.

Ok, thank you for the response. I bought the EX6 yesterday afternoon. Got it home, took about an hour to put together. Popped open a beer and started it up for its seasoning run. I didn’t time it, but it seemed to get up to 600 in about 15 minutes. It held 600 for about 30 minutes, then it dropped to 565 in about 5 minutes and it didn’t go back up. Is this normal? Additionally, when I went to shut it down after the run, there was ash everywhere. Again, I’m new to this pellet grilling so all of this is new to me and I’m not sure what the norm is with these things. It also had a lot of what I assume was scale and I’m not sure if this is normal during the seasoning process as well. Thoughts, insights and advice is greatly appreciated!

Everything looks normal. The amount of ash depends upon the brand of pellet and the temp that you are running at. Higher temp, more fan, more ash flying. But I have never noticed ash in my food.

I have found that treager pellets produce ALOT of ash. I’ve used off brands from the shelf at wallyworld. They don’t produce as much.
