I’m new to the smokefire. Doing Spareribs today. Going to follow the cooking instructions in the software. I see the steps, but no timing on the steps. Does the software alert you? Does anyone use the software directions?

I think most would agree that the in-app cooking instructions are not really that great. With BBQ, nothing is ever exact. I'd recommend watching some YouTube videos on smoking spareribs. There are other better indicators to go by during a cook than time. Heck, with ribs I almost never even stick a temp probe in them. Everything is by sight, texture, and feel.

I have done several cooks and use the probes with great results. The app can use meat types or temp control. I prefer the temp. The app will keep you informed and will beep at you when close or at temp. The beep is rather soft.

Agree! Ribs are mostly sight and feel. Actually before I got the SmokeFire I hardly ever used a temp probe.
