Temperature fluctuations

New ex4 owner here (gen 2 purchased from Weber on cyber Monday) and had a question for the group...

I‘ve initial burn in, a rack of ribs and a pork butt so far. No issues really, but the temp fluctuations surprised me. During my low and slow cook on the butt, I used my Ink Bird to monitor both the smoker and pork temp (will eventually use the Weber app but more familiar with the ink bird). The pic below shows the temp fluctuations over a ~18 hour cook. Smoker was set at 225*.

I’m guessing this is normal and is just part of the pellet burn cycle of pellet grill? Doing the same length cook on the WSM has much more gradual temp changes.

That looks about right. The Weber PID "smoothes" out the temp fluctuations. There's a reason the digital readout is in 5 degree increments

That looks perfectly normal, and appears to within the normal PID bandwidth tolerance for a solid fuel pellet cooker.
