Well, he said it got to almost 500 degrees. That will char just about anything sweet.

That’s for sure.
I read it that his turkey cook went to 500 not his rib cook. However, it’s really difficult to know. If it were in fact at 500 for any length of time those ribs would have been briquettes. 😜 not just a little dark IMO. It’s really difficult to diagnose from afar. So many variables mentioned and not mentioned.

I don’t think anyone is denying issues, but when a company offers a full refund if your aren’t happy, then you have no reason to complain really. Also I would suggest less aggressive rhetoric on the posters behalf if they wish to be warmly received. The cooker is not a POS, it’s a remarkably versatile instrument. I certainly can understand user frustration, but when one comes out swinging with harsh adjectives and name calling in their initial salvo, it is a bit understandable that their tone is reciprocated.

Again, the company offers a money back program. What more could you ask for? What more could they possibly do to rectify the situation at this point? Nothing is the answer in case anyone is wondering.
This is a tough one because as they say, time is money and I have spent way too much "time" dealing with Weber to "make right" something that should have worked out of the box. I know we are in an age of beta testers but some of the Smokefire faults are very annoying to handle. I saw the reviews and thought, "oh these people don't know how to use it or they assembled it wrong etc."

I am waiting on them to send a replacement for mine because i still think it will be a worthwhile product when/if it is working correctly, and by the posts of a lot of people here that seems to be correct. Unfortunately some things just get made wrong or were a lemon.

My Genesis had one of the side pieces welded about a half inch off from the other. The store did not believe me till I brought it in and showed them and we compared to one out of the box. It's still a solid grill over 5 years later and that's why i am optimistic that Weber will get this right.

Exactly right.
They have been out long enough now for a new buyer to be aware of possible issues and decide if that's something they wanted to deal with and make an informed decision (I was looking at the EX4 and a Traeger for almost 2 months and changed my mind daily).
Those that got one on release have also had it long enough to decide if they want to keep it or take Weber up on their offer and return.

I guess I will reiterate. I can understand user frustration as stated above. However, you can get your money back and be out some time and frustration. This is far better than most all other companies of any product might offer. Many current users have come here and posted issues without degrading the conversation level. The poster has options. Options he chooses not to exercise. I cannot understand why since he had already sold it to his neighbor for half the price he can get from Weber???? It’s not a logical decision.

I’m not sure why the poster would be using his POS on critical cooks like Thanksgiving turkey if he had just bought a Weber Summit Charcoal that he rightfully loves. I’m not questioning that he has experienced problems and frustrations, but why not take it back? Why would you use a cooker on thanksgiving you are having such self described issues.

I am absolutely sympathetic to people’s issues. I simply feel if you are in a position where you are dependent on this one cooker and you are experiencing a high level of issues that disabling, return and refund might be your option. Having said that, I’ve had issues. Most of the worst ones were six months to year ago. I continue to have some issues. They are what I would call relatively minor and definitely workable for me. I haven’t had these temp swings for a long long time. I did change the auger assembly and I use the Weber pellets in an effort to eliminate potential variables. Most of my minor frustrations are simply software related. More specifically, the app and interface with the grill. Mostly bugs or the fact that many of the features either don’t work yet or work properly yet.

I am an unabashed fanboy. I’ve used a ton of cookers and many leading and more expensive pellet grills. This thing is very unique as it is able to really grill and produce world class BBQ. I just haven’t seen another pellet cooker that does it so easily and so well. Let alone the price point which I feel is very reasonable given the quality and performance of the product. Admittedly when it works properly. I’m with you and your thinking that our patience will pay off with Weber. Cheers!🥃
