Did my first long cook on the EX6, a pork butt. Started Friday night at 10 PM on smokeboost for two hours. Then set at 250 degrees at midnight. Total cook time 16 hours - no wrapping.

Here she is all seasoned up - Meatheads Memphis Dust and put on Smokeboost at 10 PM. Got in bed and set alarm for midnight. I love the Wi-Fi on this controller - much better than my Weber Connect I use with my Performer kettle or my old PitBoss vertical.

After Smokeboost - temp set to 250. I went back to bed. Slept till 6 AM. Went out to check her.

Looking good. Fuel use as expected. About a pound an hour. Smoothed out and added more applewood. I use Lumberjack from Blaine’s. Cheap and feeds well. Loos just like my hopper does on the PitBoss. For those that think this is an issue, it really isn’t. You just have to smooth them out, which is easy on this smoker.

checked throughout the day. Eventually put some beans under, which were easy to make.

Here she is at 4 PM. Probe went in nice and smooth. Temp was 203. Pulled her off. 16 hours with no wrapping. Done on time for dinner. I am pleased with results. it fell apart coming off upper rack. As black as coal but boy was it tasty. Beans were good too!

Very nice cook! Love the EX6. I don’t know how I would do without mine. Your PB looks amazing! Wish I was there to try it!

That does look mighty fine. I wasn’t a pellet guy but dang is it convenient!

One thing I will say, and this may not apply to everyone, but don’t just smooth out the hopper, make sure you actually push down over the auger. If there is a void you will break it up. I did the smooth over and lost feed twice.

I’m convinced there isn’t a better pellet on the market. The flavor I can get from Smokefire is just, wow. Glad your cook went well, here’s to many many more!

This especially applies to unbelievably stubborn individuals that refuse to remove the wire finger guard positioned right in the pinch point at the bottom of the hopper. For those people or person, it’s a must.

You might find otherwise but for long/slow cooks SmokeBoost is almost a moot point.
It IS great for Jerky, Wings, and Ribs but for anything over 5 hours, not sure it does anything other than add more time?
