First cook in the EX4. Smoked a tri tip like brisket. 1 hour super smoke, about 5 hours at 225, wrapped around 160. Remainder at 250 until I took it off the grill at 203. Total cook time was 8 hours.

For my first run with a pellet smoker I was super impressed with the smoke ring I got.

I just bought a couple tritip this evening with plans to do them like brisket. Yours look great! Can you share rub/spices/seasoning you used?

I used Kinder’s The Blend. Buy it from Costco here in socal.
I get it there too, here in Phoenix. It’s pretty much a staple in my house. My spice and rub shelf…I have gobs of stuff. Meat church stuff, Killer Hogs, Kinders, Salt Lick….one of my favorite rubs is the Mcormick garlic and herb….it’s between the blend and blues hog in the picture.

I’m a fan of buying seasonings that can be used for multiple proteins. I have to get some meat church next.
