I've been happy with the hickory from Lumber Jack, and where I'm at they are half the price of the Weber pellets. The maple pellets from Kingsford worked really well for smoked salmon.
Life got busy, but I finally got a chance to install the welded auger/chute/motor assembly todaay.

Old hardware, Pit Boss pellets: 20:52
New hardware, Pit Boss pellets: 14:00
New hardware, Weber pellets: 14:38
I finally had a chance to install the upgraded auger/motor/chute assembly today. It took me about an hour. I skipped the step where it says to remove the pellet slide. Had no problems. It did make a difference on how fast the grill got to 600. I'll be updating my original post with the results...
I opened a ticket with customer support to ask about it and the rep said:
"Thank you for your email. I would say that is in range, however, the new welded chute/auger assembly has helped and I'd be happy to send it out. I'd also recommend emptying the hopper and vacuuming out the chute?"

I seem to recall that it got up to 600 faster in the past, but I never really timed it before.
I'm using PitBoss competition blend pellets.
Is that what you guys are seeing with yours?
